Artistas

I brought Jennifer along to our Mothers & More chapter's Open House event at the Elmhurst Art Museum.
In the beginning, we had time to wander around the museum. Jennifer and I agreed that many pieces just confused us and some were just plain weird - of course, we know nothing about paintings or sculptures and apparently even less about why we should appreciate them! We did see a couple things we liked, but unimpressed, we went back to our meeting area to mingle and feed Lilly instead.

Next, we had a group art lesson in the studio. Lilly serenaded us with her humming lullabies as she drifted off to sleep in the Moby in the first few minutes of the class.  Jennifer wasn't too thrilled about the idea of painting a picture at first, but the instructor lead us step by step and walked around to give us feedback and help along the way. While Jennifer preferred to have explicit directions (how big of a circle? where on the canvas? how much of each color?), she eventually gave in and relaxed a little (and hopefully enjoyed it)!

It was interesting to see how different everyone's painting was, though we were all getting the same instruction to make the same picture!

While we were told, "Snacks and refreshments will be provided" at the Open House,  it certainly was NOT sufficient for dinner, especially after letting our creative juices flow. When the event was over, Jennifer and I were staaaaarving and found a Mexican restaurant nearby. We devoured a very late dinner and Lilly stole a few bites of guacamole and refried beans from my plate.

Back at home, we were up well past midnight, just chatting. Raj is completely confused by how much we have to talk about and that we can chat so much just sitting on the couch without doing anything else. We can't explain it and just laugh.
